From the powerhouse creative team, Jordan Fein (Oklahoma, Young Vic), Julia Cheng (Cabaret) and Tom Scutt (Winner of the 2024 Tony Award for Cabaret), Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s sold-out, electrifying Fiddler On The Roof transfers to the Barbican this summer for a strictly limited 8-week season, followed by a major UK and Ireland tour.
It’s 1905 in the tiny village of Anatevka where Tevye, a Jewish milkman, lives his life by their proud traditions. For his five daughters, that means a visit from the matchmaker. As each daughter challenges his beliefs, against the backdrop of a changing world, can Tevye hold on to his roots or must he bend to the will of his children and learn to embrace the unfamiliar?
Featuring songs ‘If I Were A Rich Man’, ‘Tradition’, ‘Matchmaker’ and ‘Sunrise, Sunset’, this classic musical of joy and community is an exuberant celebration of love and life.

Jordan Fein understands that Fiddler on the Roof is more than just Jews and jazz hands. For him, it’s as much a Greek tragedy that cuts to the heart of the human condition as much as it is a piece of summer escapism. Philip Roth infamously derided it as 'shtetl kitsch’. He might have retracted his comment if he saw Fein’s psychologically streamlined production, now proudly revived and armed with thirteen Olivier nominations.
